Spotify Family to offer half-price Premium subscriptions for additional family members

Anyone who has ever shared a Spotify Premium account with a partner or – worse – their kids will know the problems: arguments over who gets to use it when, and your playlists and recommendations polluted by the likes of Jason Mraz or the soundtrack from The Lego Movie.

Spotify Family will soon allow you to purchase additional Premium subscriptions for up to four family members for half-price. The first family member will continue to pay $10/month, but additional family members pay just $5/month.

Your account. Your music. With Spotify Family, everyone gets their very own account. Enjoy separate playlists and recommendations and play your music whenever you like.

Premium for everyone. Everyone on the plan gets the full Spotify Premium experience. Listen offline. Play any song, anytime, on any device. No restrictions. No ads.

The more the merrier. Having a family can be expensive. But music doesn’t have to be. With Spotify Family, you can add up to four family members to your account, and each additional user gets 50% off Spotify Premium.

No tantrums. No more fighting over what to listen to, and no more interruptions when someone else logs in and starts playing.

Spotify said a family membership has been one of its most requested features, and that the package will roll-out globally in the coming weeks.

Spotify apps are available for both Android and Windows, as well OS X and iOS. Spotify also made it to the Amazon Fire TV box last month.

Friends & family of Motorola employees get up to $50 off Moto X & Moto G

Motorola has launched a new program for employees that allows them to offer friends and family discounts of up to $50 on the Moto X and Moto G. AndroidPolice detailed the “Friends with Moto” program that lets Motorola employees send coupon codes to friends and family for $50 off the Moto X, $40 off the 16GB Moto G, or $30 off the 8GB Moto G. The discounts are for the off-contract devices available through Motorola’s online store and require friends and family to fill out a short form (pictured above). After the form is completed the Motorola employee will get a coupon code they can forward to the person to use at checkout. The discounts bring the off-contract price of the Moto X down to $349 and the Moto G down to $149/$159.

Sprint introduces new “Framily” plans, allowing up to ten friends, family, or random strangers to share a plan

This is not the promo card for an awful ABC sitcom

Today Sprint announced a new offer that allows up to ten “framily” (that’s friends+family) members to share a common plan. The “framily” plan (yes, they’re really calling it that) offers unlimited talk and text for up to ten people, even if they don’t live in the same household, as required by many previous family plans. Each member of the “framily” will also get 1 GB of data each as long as they don’t roam onto another network.

Unlike old family plans, “framily” plans allow everyone to get a separate bill sent to their homes. As you add more people to your group, the bill drops by $5 for everyone, and goes as low as $25 per month if you have seven or more “framily” members. The plans will be available in Sprint retail stores starting on January 10th.
