After a series of developer announcements yesterday, Google is rolling out a handful of Gemini app updates for end users centered around an upgraded version of 2.0 Flash Thinking Experimental, which remains in preview.

Besides the GDC 2025 announcements, Google announced today that Gemini in Android Studio “now supports multimodal inputs, which lets you attach images directly to your prompts” for visual help during the app development process.

Following Gemma 3 and Gemini Robotics earlier today, Google’s AI news continues with wider access to native image output in Gemini 2.0 Flash that allows for conversational image editing alongside other capabilities.

Google DeepMind today announced Gemini Robotics to bring Gemini and “AI into the physical world,” with new models able to “perform a wider range of real-world tasks than ever before.”

With Gemini now available in Workspace Business and Enterprise, Google Chat and Meet are picking up a slew of new features.

Gemini in Gmail is expanding with a new “Add to Calendar” shortcut that will “automatically detect calendar related content in your email.”

Earlier this week, Google rebranded “Extensions” in Gemini to just “apps.” Google has now shared that these Gemini apps are now powered by 2.0 Flash Thinking (experimental).

Google Calendar is the latest Workspace app to get the Gemini side panel on the web. This is currently being tested in Workspace Labs.

Google seems to be preparing support for Gemini on Android Auto, as well as the more conversational Gemini Live experience.

At the start of this week, Google announced that video and screen sharing is coming to Gemini Live on Android later this month. Ahead of that launch, the group working on Project Astra is formally joining the Gemini app team. 

Amid this morning’s big Live announcement, Google is renaming “Gemini Extensions” to “apps.” There’s also a small tweak to the model picker on the homescreen.

Following last week’s homescreen redesign, the Google Gemini app on iPhone has been updated with lockscreen widgets and direct access in Control Center.
