Pinć $99 VR headset brings its Minority Report-style user interfaces to Android, preorders now live

I first got my hands on Pinć (pronounced Pinch) last month when the company gave me a tech demo of its still-in-development VR headset/smartphone case that utilizes Minority Report-style user interfaces. The company initially opened up preorders for the $99 accessory for iPhones, but today it’s making the Android version official by offering Android devs the same opportunity to preorder the hardware ahead of an official launch next summer.

Samsung’s Gear VR headset pictured, purportedly launching at IFA 2014

We told you in May about a device that Samsung is purportedly working on to be its entrance into the currently-Oculus-dominated virtual reality market. Today, we now have a glimpse at a couple images that claim to show the upcoming device/accessory in the flesh (via Sammobile), and with IFA just around the corner, the leaks come at a pretty appropriate time.

Report: Samsung creating competitor to Oculus Rift, will be compatible with Galaxy smartphones and tablets

Samsung is reportedly developing its own VR headset, a device that will be similar in many ways to the Oculus Rift, for use with its flagship Galaxy smartphones and tablets (via Engadget). This headset is apparently separate from the “Galaxy Glass” project that is slated to be unveiled later this year.

The VR headset is being described as a peripheral, as opposed to a stand-alone product, and will require a connection to a Samsung device in order to function.
