Motorola rumored to be developing phablet-sized Nexus device w/ Google as it transitions to Lenovo

Over the weekend, a report was published claiming that Google and Motorola were working together on a 5.9-inch Nexus device codenamed the Shamu. This afternoon, The Information published a separate report corroborating this weekend’s source.

The new report alleges that Google and Motorola are working together on an “undisclosed phone-tablet project with Google.” Amir Efrati claims that this is the “phablet” Nexus device that was reported on this weekend.

Separately, Motorola is also getting a boost from working on an undisclosed phone-tablet project with Google—the type of initiative which, ironically, it could not pursue as a Google subsidiary due to concerns about favoring the house-owned Android vendor over others.

Other details on Motorola’s supposed Nexus device still remain sparse. You can read the full Information post, which goes into more detail regarding Android Silver, here, although it is paywalled.
