Google Glass app directory hits 64 apps with 11 new additions including Shazam, The Guardian, more (updated)

Getting your Google Glass app into Google’s official app directory is not an easy task, but Google recently introduced six new applications — and this time, there are some bigger names thrown in the mix. Those added recently include Shazam, Goal.com, musiXmatch, Star Chart, The Guardian, and Zombies, Run! and you can get them now on your Glass device.

It will surely get to the point where the app directory for Glass grows to be so large that it won’t make sense to report on every single addition, but with only 60 apps officially accessible to Explorers via MyGlass, each and every new piece of software opens up completely new experiences and use cases for the device.

Most notable of the additions are Shazam, the popular music recognition app (which can be activated on Glass by saying “Ok Glass, recognize this”), and an app for the British newspaper The Guardian which is aimed at keeping you “up to date with award-winning journalism.”

But the other recent additions are definitely welcome. The “Goal.com” app lands appropriately in time as the world follows along with the World Cup, Star Chart is one of the better known apps for star gazing, Zombies, Run! is an already-popular mobile game making its way to the head-mounted computer, and musiXmatch brings a huge library of song lyrics in multiple languages that are just a voice command away.

Update: It looks like Google has added even more since this post was first published.
