The SmartBand Talk—which we leaked and was announced alongside the SmartWatch 3 earlier this year—is about to launch worldwide in the coming weeks, but today, its app has officially launched on the Play Store. Alongside the launch of this main companion app, the company has also launched four extension apps, which bring even more features to the SmartBand Talk.
The first of the five apps that Sony just released is simply called “SmartBand Talk,” and this is obviously the main companion application for the SmartBand. This app lets you connect the watch to your phone, view its status, adjust settings regarding what exactly you want to track, and view and manage all of the apps you currently have installed on the watch.
To add extensions—which are essentially the device’s apps—to the SmartBand Talk, Sony has taken the genius move of making most of them require a completely separate download from the Google Play Store. The Smart Control extension lets you toggle phone settings, Smart Badge lets you manage your profile card, World Clock lets you show time from anywhere in the world, and Voice Note lets you record… voice notes.
All of these apps are available for free on the Play Store right now, and you can download them by clicking their respective links above. As noted earlier, the SmartBand Talk hasn’t launched yet, but will at some point over the coming weeks. In the meantime, you can head over to Sony’s website to read more about the device. Amazon is quoting a launch date of November 10th.
