We’ve gotten a couple different looks at the HTC One E9 over the last week, but now Upleaks is at it again—this time with renders of what is purportedly the HTC One E9+. The device appears to come in three different color variants, including what looks to be brown/gold, black/silver, and gold/white.
Assuming Upleaks is on the mark, we can guess the HTC One E9+ will have a lot of the same specifications as its little brother. Earlier this month, Upleaks said that the HTC One E9 will have a 64-bit MediaTek processor, 32 GB of flash storage, 3 GB of RAM, and a 13-megapixel main camera. A recent tweet from the phone leaker says that the E9+ will be at least a little bit of an upgrade, sporting a 1440 x 2560 display and a more powerful 20-megapixel camera.
On the software side of things, the device is likely to pack the same Android Lollipop and HTC’s own Sense 7 which were launched alongside the HTC One M9.
What’s going to be interesting is to see how HTC includes this in its 2015 lineup. The HTC One M9 flagship was recently announced, and the HTC One M9+ is supposedly on the way in just a couple of weeks. Last year, the only major difference between the E model and the M model was band support for various international markets, and the physical polycarbonate back that some preferred over the aluminum of its brother.
And this is a leaked “Plus” version of a phone that doesn’t even publicly exist yet. In fact, the HTC One M9+, which HTC might be unveiling on April 8th, isn’t even confirmed to be coming to the American market. The E9 will be making its way to the US if it follows in the footsteps of its predecessor, but right now it’s speculation to assume that any device beyond the regular M9 will be hitting US carriers.
It would make sense that HTC just wanted to make sure it didn’t canabalize the launch of the M9 with the announcement of a slew of other phones, but we’ll have to wait and find out if that’s the case.
