Google announced two messaging apps today: Allo and Duo. The first is a new messaging platform that emphasizes expression, security, and the inclusion of Google Assistant. The second app is a take on video messaging, focusing on one thing and one thing only: a reliable 1-to-1 video calling experience.

HTC’s upcoming “HTC 10” — sans the “M” of its predecessors — handset is set to be yet another well-specced entry for early 2016 and its launch could be one of many “make it or break it” moments for the Taiwanese company. Following disappointing launches of both the HTC One M8 and M9, the maker of the popular Vive virtual reality hardware and the recently-launched HTC One A9 mid-ranger is hoping to make a comeback with the “10”.

Report: Google to launch Google Play Music All Access family plan for $15/month

According to a new report out this morning from Android Police, Google is planning to launch a new Google Play Music All Access family plan at tomorrow’s event. This is a move to take on competitors like Spotify and Apple, and will allow users to use the service across 6 accounts for just about $15 per month…

And that’s pretty much all we know about it that this point. For quick comparison, Spotify’s family plans range between $15 and $30, with the lower end of that being for just two accounts. Apple Music, on the other hand, offers exactly the same deal that Google is planning to launch tomorrow — $15 a month for 6 users.

Tomorrow’s event is set to be packed with new Chromecasts, the new Nexus 5X and 6P, as well as other announcements. If you need to catch up, be sure to head over and read our full roundup, where we’ve outlined all the new products and features coming to Google’s product lineups.

Google’s September 29th event — the company’s biggest press-facing event since Google I/O 2015 — is scheduled to kick off tomorrow. BlackBerry ‘Venice’ is coming to market as the ‘Priv’

According to a couple reports out this morning, the long-rumored Android-powered “Venice” smartphone on the way from BlackBerry is going to be called the “Priv” when it actually launches…

We’ve seen photos of the phone leak from multiple sources over the last month or two, and a couple of weeks ago a full gallery of shots surfaced showing the phone from all angles. We also recently saw a blurry cam picture taken by someone attending the Toronto Film Festival, showing the same Venice phone we’ve seen elsewhere, but with what looks to be case attached. Along the right side of the device in that image (and the others leaked in the full gallery), you can see two volume buttons aligned just like the ones of the Venice images that just surfaced last month.

If you want to see the phone in action, someone managed to post an entire hands-on video with the phone last week. Additionally, PhoneArena has revealed several specifications of the device, including a 1440 x 2560 QHD resolution display, 3 GB of RAM, an 18-megapixel main camera with optical image stabilization, and a battery somewhere in the range of 3,000 mAh. The software is clearly Android Lollipop, and BlackBerry will probably include security-related features and pre-packaged apps.

As the leaks continue to get more and more common, we’re definitely nearing its official announcement…

LG’s Nexus 5X is coming in three colors: white, black, and mint-ish green

We just saw the Huawei Nexus 6P colors earlier today, and now the same source has shared stock imagery showing the upcoming Nexus 5X from LG. While the white variant was all but confirmed (and a black version easily assumable), this image shows that Google is preparing to launch a green-ish blue color as well — lining up pretty well with previous rumors of a “mint” color.

According to an earlier report out of Android Police citing a “reliable source,” LG’s upcoming “Nexus 5” (which we’ve recently learned is actually called the Nexus 5X), will sport a Snapdragon 808 processor, a 5.2-inch 1080p display, 3 GB of RAM, a 2700 mAh battery, support for USB-C, a 12.3-megapixel main camera sensor, and a 5-megapixel front camera.

BlackBerry ‘Venice’ running Android’s stock Messenger app spotted in the flesh

More evidence that an Android slider from BlackBerry in on the way — probably the “Venice” device that we’ve been telling you about for quite a while — has now surfaced . As seen in a new spy shot originally shared by BerryFlow, BlackBerry looks to be pushing the “Venice” slider running some build of Lollipop out into the field for testing. This time, we’ve caught the phone running what looks to be the stock Messenger app…

The above blurry cam picture taken at the Toronto Film Festival, which assumably was snapped very quickly as to not make its photographer seem too stalk-ish, shows the Venice phone we’ve seen before, but with what looks to be case attached. Along the right side of the device, you can see two buttons aligned just like the ones of the Venice images that just surfaced two weeks ago.

And while the most recent imagery has shown the device running a full-fledged Android OS (meaning there’s not any real reason to doubt that this is the real deal), this is the first image we’ve seen of the phone in public. It’s not perfectly clear, but the app that’s running on-screen looks just like Android Lollipop’s stock Messenger app — with its blue navigation bar and all.

With the leaks continuing to stream in, it’s probably not going to be long before we see the announcement of what might be BlackBerry’s last ditch effort to catch at least a tiny part of the consumer smartphone market.

Shatterproof Moto X Force leaks again ahead of rumored December release

Notorious Twitter leaker @upleaks has this evening shared more images of an unannounced Motorola phone. The device is allegedly called the Moto X Force and carries the codename “Bounce” within Motorola. The first image and specs of the device leaked earlier this week, with Upleaks claiming that the device would launch to the public sometime in December.

The Moto X force allegedly features a 5.43″ QHD display, Snapdragon 810 MSM8994 processor, 32GB and 64GB storage tiers, 3 GB of RAM, a 21-megapixel main camera, a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter, and a 3760mAh battery. The reason for the Force name is that the device is supposedly shatterproof and ruggedized when compared to Motorola’s other smartphone options.

Visually the device looks a lot like the Moto X Play, but the shatterproof screen definitely sets it apart from Motorola’s other offerings. The Moto X Style and Moto X Play launched just last month, so it would make sense for the company to hold the Moto X Force for a December announcement, like Upleaks claims.

Yet another Moto 360 press render image surfaces, possibly shows gold-plated models

The Moto 360 leaks just won’t stop. We’ve seen images front, back and all-around of the smaller Moto 360S and larger Moto 360L, but now Evleaks (by the way, didn’t he retire or something?) has shared images of what could be one of the more expensive Moto 360 variants. They’re probably not Apple Watch Edition-level expensive, but more likely close to the price range of the Huawei Watch (another Android Wear device that’s slated to have its availability and pricing detailed at IFA).

As you can see above, there looks to be at least a couple of what are assumably gold-plated models in both the “small” and “large” sizes. As we told you yesterday, the small device is slated to have a 42mm body, while the large is expected to sport a 46mm case. All of the above watches have link bracelets, but Motorola could still offer these with a leather band, perhaps through Moto Maker. We saw a lot of watches leaked in renders yesterday, but none of them looked quite like the gold ones above.

Based on an image we shared with you earlier today, it seems Motorola is prepping to show off the Moto 360 on September 8th. We’re on the ground in Berlin already, and we’ll be keeping you up to the minute on the latest in the world of Android, Android Wear, and anything else that might catch us by surprise over the next week.

Upleaks shares Moto 360S and Moto 360L screen & lug sizes ahead of IFA

The new Moto 360 — scheduled to be unveiled in just a few days — has seen plenty of leaks over the last few weeks. And now Upleaks is getting into the nitty gritty. According to a pair of recent tweets, we now know the dimensions of both devices’ screens and lug widths…

Apparently, the Moto 360 small (which has appropriately picked up the Moto 360S moniker) sports a 1.37-inch display and a 42mm body, as well as lugs to fit a 20mm band. The large variant, in turn referred to as the Moto 360L, has a 1.55-inch display, a 46mm body, and a 22mm band size.

Also, following several new leaked stock images of both devices this morning, as well as the newly-rumored Moto 360 Sport, Upleaks has now shared images of the back of the device. As you can see above, the watch is labeled as “Moto 360,” sports a pedometer, is IP67 water resistant, is made of stainless steel, and has wireless charging.

The one on the left is assumably the Moto 360S, while the one on the right is the larger model (I’m assuming these aren’t to scale). Hopefully Motorola decides to simply offer two sizes and doesn’t come anywhere close to attaching silly letters to their names. The branding looks to simply be “Moto 360,” and I have faith that that’s what they (both) will be called.

Shatterproof Motorola ‘Bounce’ smartphone leaks, purportedly coming in December

The Moto X Style and Moto X Play only just recently launched last month, but it doesn’t look like Motorola is anywhere close to done for the year. Besides the fact that a slew of Moto 360 announcements are expected for this wek at IFA Berlin, it appears that the Lenovo-owned company is also preparing another smartphone for sometime later this year. It’s purportedly called the Motorola “Bounce,” and it sports a shatterproof screen, and specs very similar to that of the recent Moto X line.

As you can see above, the phone definitely looks a lot like the Moto X Play. In terms of its specs, the phone is also not far off from what the company is already offering. According to Upleaks, the phone packs a 5.43″ QHD display, the Snapdragon 810 MSM8994 processor, storage options at 32 and 64 GB, 3 GB of RAM, a 21-megapixel main camera, a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter, and a 3760mAh battery. Also, the phone is purportedly shatterproof, perhaps why it’s called “Bounce”?

While more details are sure to come, we’re not quite sure at this point to which regions the phone will be coming. That said, if Upleaks is correct — which he/she very often is — the phone will be launching sometime in December of this year. We’ll keep you updated as more details make their way out.
