Spotify updated with support for Android Wear, here’s how it looks [Gallery]

Spotify told us last month that support for Android Wear was on the way, and now it looks like it’s finally here. With the latest version of the Spotify app, rolling out on the Play Store right now, you’ll be able to access new menus for controlling your music on your Android Wear device…

When you’re playing Spotify on your phone, you’ll see a new card appear in your Android Wear timeline that lets you quickly play and pause the track. Swiping right, though, will show you controls to skip the track, go back a track, and adjust volume. Go one more page over, and you’ll find a “Browse” button.

Sadly, there isn’t an actual Spotify app in the app drawer (at least not yet). If you want to be able to browse and play music, you need to have Spotify open and playing on your phone first — this will trigger the card containing your currently-playing track to appear on your watch. As far as we can tell, there’s no way to launch the Android Wear app with your voice either.

Tapping browse takes you into your Spotify library to pick some tunes. You can scroll through your saved music, Top Lists, and the many genre-based playlists that Spotify offers. Navigating deeper into Your Music, you’ll find the ability to choose Playlists, Your Stations, Albums, and Artists. From there, you’ll be able to tap an album or an artist, but not an actual track.

You can grab Spotify on the Play Store for free, and the update with Android Wear support is rolling out now.
