Dish Network’s Sling TV has been around for a while, but one feature that was long been missing from its Android and iPhone apps was Chromecast support. Now, following Google’s announcement last month that the feature was on the way, watchers of live on-demand TV programming via Sling TV can finally sling that content onto their big screen…
Straight from Sling’s blog:
It’s finally here! Starting today, Sling TV supports Google’s Chromecast, making it even more convenient for customers to stream the best live and on-demand programming to their TVs using their Android smart phones and tablets, iPhones and iPads. And don’t worry, Windows and Mac casters, we’re working on future compatibility for your laptops as well.
In addition to the app update, Sling says that customers who prepay for 3 months of “Best of Live TV,” will be eligible to get a free Chromecast, and that new customers using Chromecast will be able get a free two-month trial of the “Best of Live TV” package, which Sling says will be offered by way of the “Chromecast website” (likely meaning the Chromecast offers page).
It doesn’t look like the app update is hitting the Google Play Store just yet (as of this writing), but with the announcement out the gate, the new version is probably just hours away from hitting devices.
