Despite being announced over a year ago, the revamped Google Contacts web app remains in preview and is still lacking some legacy features. A new feature rolling out today, however, will list verified business information from Google Maps directly in a contact.
Information like business name, address, and hours will show up if a user previously added a phone number that matches a verified business listing in Google Maps. Other surfaced data includes profile image and website, as well as a shortcut to directly open the listing in Maps.
Google will not override information a user has has manually added by having two separate fields. All the Google Maps data shows up in the bottom field that states which phone number was used to pull the information.
Besides the new design, this is actually one of the first new features added to the Google Contacts preview. In May, the preview added the ability to search import third-party address books into Contacts. Those still using the old version of Contacts can enable the new one by clicking “Try Contacts Preview” in the left hand toolbar.
The Google Maps integration will roll out to all users in the next three days.
