Take a last peek at this OnePlus 3 spotted in the wild before it gets announced

We are just a day away from the OnePlus 3‘s official announcement, but of course leaks simply won’t stop coming. Thanks, once again, to Steve Hemmerstoffer — better known in the tech world with his @OnLeaks pseudonym — we can now see what seems to be a final unit of the device in the wild…

The two images, seemingly coming from Weibo, are here to pretty much confirm everything we already knew about the device, at least aesthetics wise. In fact, the OnePlus 3 here pictured is just about identical to the one shown in previous leaked renders, first of all ascertaining its metal build.

Seemingly ditching its signature Sandstone material/coloration, in fact, OnePlus is going a little more mainstream with its 3 flagship, nonetheless relying on a stylish and elegant charcoal color and an overall simple design, reminiscent of past HTC One devices and recent Huawei flagships alike.

Black antenna lines break the otherwise plain back, whose only other distinctive features are the rumored 16MP camera, a single LED flash and OnePlus’ own logo.

On the side, other than the usual sleep/wake button and the volume rocker, we see the OnePlus 2‘s switch making a sweet comeback, likely to serve again as a mute on/off toggle — a nice addition we wish more phones had.

The front is dominated by the massive screen, which is rumored to come in once again at 5.5 inches and 1080p resolution, despite inheriting the AMOLED technology from its smaller X sibling this time around.

Unlike most manufacturers — save, notably, for Samsung, Oppo and a few others — OnePlus once again seemingly decided to put its fingerprint scanner-integrated home button on the front, and while it’s unclear whether it will be a capacitive key, we tend to think so.

Other leaks mention a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 CPU, either 4GB or 6GB of RAM (depending on the configuration), the presence of USB-C and more.

Don’t forget to tune in to the company’s VR launch in The Loop tomorrow.
