Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Ring may end up being a little more expensive than expected, as new rumored claim the price will match that of the Oura Ring while also including a monthly subscription cost.
The Galaxy Ring was first shown off in full earlier this year. Samsung confirmed some key details around the product at the time including that it would have over a week of battery life, likely won’t support iPhone, and other details regarding sizing and more. It was also hinted that Samsung was looking into a subscription offering for the product.
Now, new rumors are offering some further insight into pricing.
Tipster Yogesh Brar claims that the Galaxy Ring will range from $300 to $350 in the US. That matches the price of the Oura Ring, which starts at $299 but can cost up to $550 depending on the style chosen.
Samsung is offering Galaxy Ring in silver, gold, and black finishes, and it’s unclear if there will any price differences between the three options.
Brar also mentioned to Android Authority that Samsung will also have a monthly subscription for Galaxy Ring that costs “under $10 a month.” Oura requires a $5.99/month subscription with its Ring.
While none of this is confirmed yet – and should probably be taken with a grain of salt given the subscription detail was mentioned in a private conversation rather than the original post – the potential for Samsung to introduce a subscription is quite interesting. One of the big appeals of Samsung smartwatches has long been that the Samsung Health app provides all of your data without added cost. But, the Ring, it sounds like that could quickly change.
Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy Ring in July alongside new watches, foldables, and more.
