LG is now rolling out an update to its 2023 TVs which delivers Google Cast support.
Back in January, LG and Google announced plans to bring Cast to LG’s TVs. At the time, this was still known as “Chromecast built-in,” but Google has since reverted that branding back to “Google Cast.”
LG’s webOS platform didn’t support Google Cast for years, but this expansion, which started on newer 2024 TVs, brought support for the standard widely used across both Android and iOS to customers. LG had previously added AirPlay support nearly five years prior.
FlatpanelsHD reports that Cast support arrives alongside webOS 24, which is rolling out much earlier than anticipated. The update is rolling out on 2023 versions of the OLED-equipped LG C3 and LG G3 with firmware version 23.20.50. For some models, you can manually install the update using a USB stick using instructions and files on LG’s website.
