Original Pixel Buds Pro almost 50% off in clearance sale

With the launch of Pixel Buds Pro 2 last year, the Google Store stopped selling the original pair. However, you can still find the first-gen Pixel Buds Pro at some retailers, with Woot selling them brand new today for $109.99 in a clearance sale.

The 2024 buds are 24% lighter and 27% smaller than the 2022 pair. It’s an appreciable difference, though the bean-esque nature of the original that aligns with the bottom curve of your ear might feel more comfortable for some. Personally, if there weren’t other technical upgrades on the second-gen, I’d still wear the original.

Meanwhile, the new pair gives you 8 hours of battery life with Active Noise Cancellation on and 12 hours without (versus 7 and 11 hours, respectively). Charging case battery life goes from 20 to 30 hours (ANC) and 31 to 48 hours (no ANC).

Pixel Buds Pro 2 also goes from IPX4 to IP54, while the charging case is IPX2 to IPX4. Also of note is the addition of a speaker for Find My Device.

Other notable improvements include Bluetooth 5.4 (vs 5.0) and extra small eartips. In terms of software, the Gemini experience is currently on par

Woot, an Amazon company, is selling new Google Pixel Buds Pro for $109.99 until January 7 at 11:59 p.m. CT, or while supplies last, in a clearance sale. That’s 45% off the original price, while Amazon (directly) sells it for $149. It’s currently available in Bay (blue), Coral (orange), and Porcelain (beige).

The Pixel Buds Pro 2 got a price increase to $229 last year, though it’s currently $30 off.

This is an absolute upgrade technical purchase if you’re using Pixel Buds A-Series, though keep in mind the drastic size/weight difference (5.06 g vs 6.2 g). Google still sells the A-Series brand new for $99, but it’s often discounted (currently $79).
