LG’s X screen and X cam mid-rangers begin global rollout ‘this week’

LG revealed details of two Android Marshmallow-powered phones called the X screen and X cam just about a month ago, and now the Korean company has announced that they’re beginning to roll out first in South Korea and then following in other markets including “Europe, Latin America and Asia.” It’s not exactly surprising, but LG seems to be taking a pass on these phones for North America…

Neither of these phones are fully-powered flagships like the LG G5 or the LG V10, but they each seem to have some marked resemblance to those devices. The X cam has a dual camera on the back much like the G5 (not to mention a front face that definitely resembles the new LG flagship), and the X screen sports the intriguing secondary screen we’re familiar with from the V10.

LG’s X cam has a 1.14GHz octa-core processor, 2GB RAM and 16GB of built-in storage as well as a 2,520mAh battery, while the X screen has a 1.2GHz quad-core chip, 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage powered by a 2,300mAh battery. The X cam has an 8MP camera sitting above a full HD 5.2-inch display, and the X screen has a display that’s 4.93-inches and only has a resolution of 720p.

“What’s appealing about the X screen and X cam is that each offers one great feature in a complete package that doesn’t break the bank,” said Juno Cho, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “Starting with the X series, we’re introducing the best in camera and display technology in a mass-tier device, something that has never been done before.”

It’s not clear when exactly you’ll be able to grab the phones and carrier information has yet to be announced, but the Korean company says they should hit shelves “starting this week”.
