Samsung’s Wear OS 5 update has yet to come to any Galaxy Watch beyond the Watch 7. Instead, Watch models 4 through 6 are getting a tiny sliver of that update in the form of the new watch faces debuted on the newest Galaxy Watch.
Samsung has been struggling to develop its newest iterations of Android on both mobile phones and its lineup of smartwatches. The Galaxy Watch 7 rolled out with Wear OS 5 – One UI 6 Watch – when it was released in July. Months later, that software version has not made its way to other watches in the series, though its expected to come soon.
Samsung has, however, begun rolling out a small portion of that update to users in the form of new watch faces from Samsung’s Wear OS 5 variant (via Sammy Fans). The upgrade comes in the form of an update to the Galaxy Wearable companion app. From the app, a new “Featured watch faces” banner can be opened with the ability to download the new facades.
The watch faces included are the new Spatial Number, Simple Digital, and Ultra Info Board faces. All three can be seen on the Galaxy Watch 7 series, including the Galaxy Watch Ultra. These are nice watch faces, but they might do little to temper users’ expectations for One UI Watch 6.
The Galaxy Watch 4, 5, and 6 are getting these new Wear OS 5 watch faces. According to reports, Samsung is aiming for October or November in which to release One UI Watch 6 to those devices.
