Upcoming HTC One X9 gets in-depth overview, appears in video

HTC hasn’t officially announced the One X9 yet and already it’s seen its fair share of press coverage. An official TENAA listing gave away the important information a few weeks ago, while a more recent leak showed the handset in more detail. Over on Chinese tech site, iMobile, there is what appears to be an insanely in-depth article, multiple pages long, going over everything from hardware to software, benchmarks and everything in between…

Much of what is revealed has been suggested before. The device features a 5.5-inch 1080p display, 3,000mAh battery and 16GB internal storage with the option to expand via MicroSD. There could be two models available, one with 2GB RAM and another with 3GB, both using the octa-core MediaTek Helio X10 processor. On the back, there’s a 13MP camera equipped with OIS and 4K video recording. Although the image quality from the photographs is good, the reviewer notes that the 4K video isn’t as hot. In fact, going as far as calling it terrible.

Although some information is protected, it would appear as though the upcoming powerful mid-ranger is running Android 6.0 with Sensui UI 7.0 on top, just like the HTC One A9. Like the A9, it’s made predominantly from metal, but with color-matched plastic coverings for the external SIM and MicroSD card inputs as well as the camera surround. We also see the three capacitive buttons on the front panel, below the screen, similar to some of HTC’s lower-end Desire-series phones.

Although we know the phone will be launched in China at some point soon, HTC’s plans for a western market release are unknown. Given the specifications and the more premium build quality, I’d love to see it launched in the US and UK to replace the plastic Desire phones. It’s expected to cost less than the HTC One A9, but again, we don’t have any specifics on pricing. If you’d like to read through the overview yourself, head on over to iMobile and be sure to run it through Google Translate if you want to read it in English.
