OnePlus took to its official forums this morning to announce that the 64GB OnePlus 2 is being discounted by $40. The new price for the company’s ‘flagship killer’ is $349, down from $389. The drop in price is permanent and will be reflected internationally. In the UK, as an example, you can snag a OnePlus 2 for just £249. As a gesture of goodwill, OnePlus will retroactively refund the price difference to anyone who has purchased the OP2 over the past 15 days.
This announcement comes alongside a few more deals the company is kicking off in time for Valentine’s Day:
With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, we have prepared a few more offers for your enjoyment. To kick things off, anyone purchasing one of our devices will receive a free StyleSwap Cover or OnePlus X Case. Additionally anyone who purchased the OnePlus 2 within the last fifteen (15) days, will be seeing a refund in price ($40, or the equivalent in your currency) difference coming their way. Keep an eye on your inbox for more details.
It’s clear from its recent moves that OnePlus’ initial invite-only strategy is working. It has allowed the company to better manage inventory, and now that the cost of building OnePlus 2 units is dropping, the manufacturer decided to pass those savings on to potential customers.
At its new price point, it’s hard to think of a single device that’s better value for money at a similar cost. $349 is a bargain for this device. And now that none of the company’s devices require an invite, there’s no real stumbling block to any customers looking to get a great phone at a good price.
