At this point it’s safe to say that Pokemon Go has pretty much everyone’s attention. Even though it hasn’t launched worldwide just yet, no one’s going to stop talking about it anytime soon. To benefit from the game’s popularity many businesses are using PokeStops to draw in customers, but even with signs outside and advertising on social media, many players don’t know exactly where to go to find them. Until now…
Thanks to Yelp, Pokemon GO players can easily filter nearby businesses and restaurants based on whether or not it’s marked as a Pokestop. Simply search for the type of local business and then filter by “PokeStop Nearby” and Yelp will then display the relevant locations. To populate this list Yelp will also be allowing its users to mark certain businesses as having PokeStops.
As you head into a weekend full of wild Zubats and Charmanders, remember to open up your Yelp app or search Yelp.com for businesses with a nearby PokéStop. To do this on mobile or desktop, simply search for a type of local business (“bars,” “restaurants,” etc.), swipe through the filter options at the top, hit “PokéStop Nearby,” and voilà! You can now find places to simultaneously run errands AND stock up on materials needed to catch that Eevee you’ve been eyeing.
This new feature will no doubt be a huge help for any enthusiastic Pokemon Go players as well as the businesses themselves. With all of this in place, it’s no wonder why Niantic is reportedly working on implementing sponsored locations within the game. Yelp has already implemented this new feature on its official apps both on Android and iOS. In related news, Pokemon GO is also now available in Italy, Spain, Portugal, and the UK.
