The Galaxy Watch 7 has cropped up in recent leaks and rumors, mostly surrounding the variants the lineup may contain. One recent rumor suggests that Samsung may equip at least one of the Galaxy Watch 7 models with a chip built on the company’s 3nm process, corroborating previous reports.
When the Galaxy Watch 7 series is announced, it looks likely that we’ll see three different models, each with its own price point and feature set. We expect to see a Galaxy Watch 7 Pro, Galaxy Watch 7, and another mystery variant. It very likely could be an FE model or something similar.
Previous rumors have suggested that at least one, if not all, of these watches will carry a 3nm chipset, marking the first 3nm chip inside Samsung’s smartwatch offerings. A recent report from The Korea Economic Daily further backs that rumor up, going as far as detailing the chipset name Samsung may use (via Android Headlines).
It suggested that Samsung will name the 3nm SoC the Exynos W1000, breaking off from the current naming scheme we’re used to in the Galaxy Watch series. The process Samsung is using is a second-generation architecture, which furthers the possibility of power improvement.
The report also notes that the Galaxy Watch ‘s new Exynos W1000 chip will bring a 20% faster performance and power efficiency boost. But this is where the report starts to differentiate from previous findings. According to past rumors deemed “sketchy,” the new SoC is said to bring a 30% power increase with a 50% efficiency boost.
It will remain to be seen what Samsung can conjure under the hood of the Galaxy Watch 7 series. It’s also unknown if Samsung will include the new 3nm chip in all three models or the Pro variant alone. We could see the lowest tier offer up something like a fabled Exynos W940 chip, as previously thought.
