Motorola, this morning, opened up pre-orders for its newest flagship, the Moto X Style in the UK. While the device has been available to order in the US for a couple of weeks already, pre-sales only began today across the pond in Britain. Pricing starts at £399 and increases based on materials used on the back, or which storage option you go for.
Unlike last year’s relatively small Moto X, the new X Style features a large 5.7-inch QHD resolution LCD display and it’s powered by the same hexa-core Snapdragon 808 chip found inside the LG G4. Arguably the best improvement on last year’s phone is the 21MP camera on the back with f/2.0 aperture, 4K video capture and auto-HDR. Other specs include 3GB RAM, a 3000mAh battery with support for QuickCharge technology. It also has a water repellent nano-coating, front facing stereo speakers and NFC.
For the base price of £399, you get a device with a colored resin back and 32GB internal storage. The resin is available in a choice of 10 colors, while the device is available with three different front/frame color combinations. While it has the same white/silver and black/gray as last year, there’s also a new white/light gold combination. Like last year, you can choose one of four different wood or leather finishes for a premium of £20. If you opt for the 64GB storage model, that’ll set you back an extra £35. A maxed out phone with a premium back will cost £454, just £55 more than the cheapest setup. It’s worth remembering, the Moto X Style does have a MicroSD card slot to expand storage up to an extra 128GB.
