According to Google, we’re in the “Gemini era,” and although there are other players in the space, if the company can continue to integrate, we could be in this era for a long time to come.

After starting in March and continuing in recent weeks, Google is now officially rolling out camera and screen sharing in Gemini Live for Android to the Pixel 9 and Galaxy S25 series.

In January, Gemini Live gained a “Talk Live about this” feature, and it should now be more widely available on Android.  

As of Thursday afternoon (PT), more Gemini app users on Android are seeing Astra’s Live camera and screen sharing capabilities.

Last month, Google renamed Gemini Extensions and previewed an upcoming Google Photos “app,” with more details on how it works now available. 

Google is replacing the executive in charge of the consumer-facing Gemini app since its inception, with the new boss a familiar face.

Besides the weekend confirmation that camera and screen sharing in Gemini Live is still rolling out, Google has now confirmed that it will be available on “any Android device with Gemini Advanced.”

Besides making 2.5 Pro (experimental) available to all users, Google on Saturday provided an update on Gemini Live’s Astra camera and screen sharing capabilities.

In a rather unexpected move, Google announced Saturday that it is rolling out the latest 2.5 Pro (experimental) model to all (free) Gemini app users.

It’s no secret that Gemini is coming to Android Auto soon, but it’s not here just yet. Ahead of the rollout, though, Google is removing the Assistant-colored microphone from Android Auto, seemingly as it prepares for the switch.

Ahead of the busy summer season, Google is rolling out a handful of planning and travel tools across Maps (like a handy Gemini screenshots feature) and Search. 

I can give a dozen examples of how I’m using AI, but I doubt another person will find any of them truly useful in their life. Instead, the most useful applications of AI are hyper-specific to the day-to-day things people do, and cannot be packaged in a flashy ad because it would be deemed “boring.” These are the mundane tasks that you accomplish manually and technology might have no insight into. 

Besides gaining 2.5 Pro yesterday, the Gemini app is finally doing a better job of remembering what model you selected. 

Following updates to the models that are available for all users, Google today announced Gemini 2.5 Pro (experimental) for Advanced subscribers and developers. Like before, Google is doing another mid-year/model update. 

Following the announcement earlier this month, Gems, or custom versions of Gemini that users can create and customize, are now more widely available for free users on the Android and iOS app.

It’s no secret that Google is planning to bring Gemini to Android Auto and, while that’s still not live, Android Auto 14.0 is now rolling out to all users and brings more hints that Gemini is just around the corner.

Last month, Google teased what’s coming next to Gemini Advanced, and work on letting Gemini app users generate video with Veo 2 is finalizing. 

As promised at MWC earlier this month, Google’s rollout of Project Astra-powered camera and screen sharing capabilities to Gemini Live is now underway.

Following the web introduction on Tuesday, Gemini Canvas is now rolling out to the Android and iOS app with a redesign of the plus menu.

As announced earlier this week, the Gemini app is getting the ability to generate Audio Overview podcasts, with Android and iOS users beginning to see this capability today.
