The LG G4 was (purportedly) seen in some leaked renders earlier this month, but today the upcoming handset from LG seems to have made its way through benchmarking software for the first time. As usual, GFXBench seems to be the culprit in this leak, revealing many of the upcoming device’s specs—and interestingly, the phone might be going with the Snapdragon 808 system-on-a-chip.
The device, dubbed the F500x, supposedly has a 2560 x 1440 resolution 5.5-inch display, 3 GB of RAM, a 15-megapixel rear shooter capable of UHD video, a front shooter at 7-megapixels, and all of your standard connectivity interfaces and sensors. According to this test, the phone was spotted running the latest version of Lollipop, Android 5.1.
The most interesting tidbit here is the silicon, though, which is notably not the latest-and-great (and hottest) Qualcomm Snapdragon 810. It’s not clear why, but the SoC for the LG G4 will be Qualcomm’s earlier Snapdragon 808 if these leaked specifications are correct. This chip has a hexa-core CPU clocked at 1.8 GHz and the Qualcomm Adreno 818 GPU.
Here’s the full screen capture (via GFXBench):
While it’s possible that LG could be passing on the Snapdragon 810 altogether due to its reported overheating issues, the Korean company passing on the 810 for the LG G4 might just mean that it’s planning to keep it exclusive to the rumored “Note” version of the G4 that is also reportedly launching this year.
According to word from the company’s mobile chief, the LG G4 will launch with a “metal-mixtured” body and come packed with the company’s new LG UX 4.0, which Cho says will be announced sometime between now and the new smartphone. The higher-end G Note smartphone is expected to pass 1,000,000 won at retail and become available sometime in the second half of 2015.
