Detailed LG Nexus 2015 renders leaked, show 5.2-inch screen, fingerprint sensor, more

For the past few weeks, rumors have surfaced suggestion Google will partner with two manufacturers this year for its Nexus phones. We’re purportedly going to see a smaller device made by LG and a larger model made by Huawei. Today we get our first look at some detailed 3D renders designed using hardware schematics sent to case-makers.

As we’d suspected previously (after case leaks surfaced) it looks like Google and LG have opted for a rear fingerprint sensor, rather than one embedded in a home button on the front. This is hardly surprising given Google’s focus on having all virtual ‘buttons’ in stock Android. There’s also a slightly protruding camera along with what looks like a dual-LED flash and laser-autofocus sensor.

Along with those details it also appears as though we’ll get USB Type-C support instead of the more traditional Micro USB. The screen size is a comfortable 5.2-inches and there seems to be two front-firing speakers built in to the front panel. Although, we can’t be sure on that. It could merely be a design choice to make the earpiece and lower front-facing speaker look the same.

uSwitch worked in collaboration with Steve Hemmerstoffer (@onleaks) to produce the renders which also show a largely flat surface which rounds off towards the edges, on the back. From a design standpoint, it looks a lot like the last LG-made Nexus apart from the added sensors. Sadly, it appears as though we’re not going to see the super-comfortable rounded back of the Motorola-made phones.

While the leak is based on obtained schematics sent to case-makers, it’s always worth taking these leaks with adequate skepticism. Accessory manufacturers may get schematics, but they don’t generally get the finished product and so they almost certainly don’t know all the ins and outs of the device.
