Huawei shipped an impressive 27 million phones in Q3

Huawei has announced its financial results for Q3 2015, and things are looking good for the Chinese smartphone maker. Having just surpassed Xiaomi as the top manufacturer in China, the company just announced that it shipped an impressive 27.4 million smartphones in Q3. That puts it on course to ship a total of 100 million smartphones in 2015, and represents a huge 63% jump on the same quarter in 2014. On a global scale, that puts it securely in third place, but it’s still some distance behind Samsung and Apple

While its shipments don’t come too close to the two biggest smartphone makers, its growth is market-leading. In China, Huawei’s shipments jumped a huge 68% year-on-year, while in Europe it virtually doubled the shipments it made in the same quarter last year. No other company has grown as fast over the past year. Still there’s plenty of room to grow. The company didn’t say how many phones it sold in the US, but it is yet to see true success in the States. The Huawei Watch and Nexus 6P will surely help that.

2015 will go down as a year to remember for Huawei. Outside China, the company was relatively unknown until fairly recently. But since last year, Huawei has increased its focus on global markets and has released a number of impressive products over the past 12 months. Devices like the Huawei Watch, Ascend Mate S and P8 have all drawn plaudits for their hardware and build quality. To top it off, the company also secured the deal to produce Google’s newest Nexus smartphone, combining the excellent hardware with the purest and most modern version of Android available.

Huawei will certainly be one of the companies to watch over the coming months and years. It could end up being one of the only Chinese Android OEMs to see global success.
