Android has some problems. One of those is that it takes pretty much forever for its OEMs to update their devices. That trend doesn’t seem to be changing any time soon. But if you’re an owner of Verizon’s Galaxy S5 and have been waiting (un)patiently to have somewhat modern software, worry no more: your phone is finally getting updated to Android Marshmallow starting today…
The details are over at Verizon’s website:
Verizon Wireless is pleased to announce a software update for your device. This software update has been tested to optimize device performance, resolve known issues and apply the latest security patches.
This update of course packs all the features that Google showed off all the way back at Google I/O 2015. You’re gonna get Now on Tap for searching for contextual info from anywhere on your phone, Doze mode to save battery life, an improved Permissions system, and Verizon says this update also packs Wi-Fi calling, a fresh new look, and Ultra-High-Quality Audio.
Make sure your device is charged and connected to WiFi, and keep and eye out for a notification over the coming days.
