Google’s Test My Site tool analyzes web pages for mobile friendliness, provides free reports

Think With Google, the company’s arm that provides marketers with insights, has released a tool that tests how well a site works across mobile and desktop devices. The free service even provides an in-depth report on how to fix encountered problems.

After entering a URL, the site will run a series of tests to determine mobile friendliness, in addition to mobile and desktop speed. It includes analyzing plugins, JavaScript, compression, image optimization, and other factors. Results are displayed on a scale from 0 to 100 with a poor, fair, or good rating. Scrolling down the page breaks down each category into items that passed, should consider fixing, and should fix.

For even more info, Google will email detailed technical results, but users need to agree to occasional emails from Google. Reports are limited to three sites a day, though Google allows users to come back the next day to request more.

Test My Site is just one of several tools that Google provides to developers that work on the web and Android. The Resizer web tool is from the Google Design team and shows websites at various resolutions on multiple devices. On Android, Google has a neat tool for developers to scan apps for accessibility issues and advice on how to fix it.
