Google Duo has amassed 5 million downloads on Android just a week after launch

After being announced at Google I/O, Duo made its official debut just last week, and it has already jumped up to the top of the free apps chart of Google Play and has amassed an impressive 5 million downloads on Android.

Duo made its debut on Google Play on August 16th, and within a couple of days was available worldwide. Just yesterday Google’s own Sundar Pichai confirmed the 5 million download milestone with the Play Store listing showing the new number as well.

This is pretty impressive growth to say the least and really shows that Google has something pretty powerful on its hands, despite some negative feedback from some users right off the bat. Overall, it’s a pretty useful service, it’s just not for everyone.

Are you using Duo? Do you find it useful? Definitely let us know as after all, 5 million downloads are nothing if no one is actually using the app…
