Samsung loves it its virtual assistant Bixby so much that they’ve added a physical button to the Galaxy S9 and S9+ to help you quickly use it. As the South Korean company won’t let you disable Bixby, you might as well know how to use it…
How to launch Bixby on the Samsung Galaxy S9 & S9+
- Bixby
- Bixby Voice
- Bixby Vision
1. Bixby
Bixby home resides in the same place as Google’s Feed on Pixel devices. This means to access it, you will need to swipe left to right on the homescreen. From there you can see different smart cards and information brought to you by the virtual assistant.
Additionally, you can launch directly into the page by single pressing on the Bixby button. That’s the physical button located right below the volume rocker.
2. Bixby Voice
Much like Google Assistant, you can launch Bixby and have a back and forth voice chat with it. The easiest way to do this is to just say “Hi Bixby.” Of course, before this works, you’re going to need to train the assistant. To do this, head to Bixby home> Settings> Voice wake-up.
You can also launch the voice assistant by long pressing on the Bixby button.
3. Bixby Vision
Bixby Vision uses Samsung’s AI to help identify objects around you. By merely pointing your camera at something, it should be able to identify it.
You can launch Bixby from three different places. The first is from the Bixby homescreen. Here, just tap on the Bixby Vision icon.
Additionally, you can launch it from with Samsung’s camera app and gallery app. In both, you should be able to select the Bixby Vision icon and start the feature.
