Unlike many Android OEMs, OnePlus allows users to customize their smartphones to their heart’s content. One such area that is user-customizable is the status bar. Here’s exactly what you can change on your OnePlus 6.
How to customize the status bar on the OnePlus 6
- Battery Style
- Network speed
- Icon manager
First and foremost, you’re going to need to locate the menu in which these options are stored in. To do that, head into the handset’s Settings menu by pulling down on the notification shade and tapping on the gear icon. Next, locate and choose the option for Status bar under the Customization subheading.
Battery Style
There are three options for you to choose from as far as how you would like the battery to appear at the top of your phone’s screen:
- Battery bar: The standard-looking battery icon that will become less filled as the battery life decreases
- Battery circle: The icon will appear like a ring and will become less of a circle throughout the day
- Battery hidden: You won’t see any information about your device’s battery life
Network speed
This option is just a toggle from the Status bar menu, but it will show an ongoing icon with the current up and down speeds on your network. While this probably isn’t for everyone, it can be handy for monitoring your home or work Wi-Fi connection.
Icon manager
Because the OnePlus 6 has a notch, there is very limited space on the top right side of the display for different icons. By tapping into the icon manager, you can toggle different things on or off. For example, you might not always need an icon for NFC or ethernet. Toggling these options off here will keep the icons out of the status bar.
