Google is pulling the plug on its online coupon cutting business known as Zavers. If you’re unfamiliar with this platform, don’t feel too bad, it’s only been around for a little over a year and a half. In its heyday, the soon to be defunct platform would let shoppers use online coupons at brick and mortar locations from participating retailers.
If you’re looking to upgrade your home’s audio setup, California-based speaker system maker Sonos has an attractive deal worth checking out. The company is currently running a promo that bundles six months of Google Play Music All Access (about a $60 value) with the purchase of any Sonos product, excluding the outfit’s Bridge system.
The Nexus 7 might be due for a replacement, however UK residents who have their eyes on last year’s model can score a deal on Google’s reigning 7-inch slab. Google is currently sending out emails for a Play Music promo that offers up to five bestselling albums for $1.99 a pop. Invitations appear to be hitting random Gmail users, as some of our staff has received the offer and others have not. The offer’s disclosure says it’s only available to new Google Play Music users, however it appears to be rolling out to casual customers as well.
As for the music being offered, there are fairly new full albums from artists like Drake, Blake Shelton, Childish Gambino, Arcade Fire, Rihanna and dozens more. If you’re lucky enough to score an invite to the deal, you’ll have until 11:59pm PST to take advantage of this offer.
If you’ve been flirting with the idea of buying a gigantic phone or a small tablet with a vanilla Android experience but your cash flow is low, look no further than the Sony Z Ultra Google Play edition. Typically priced at $650, Mountain View has knocked $200 off the phone-tablet hybrid’s asking price. In addition to a shrunken premium, Google Play is offering free ground shipping with a standard warehouse departure time of 1-2 business days.
Here’s a quick deal for our friends across the pond. From now until July 15th, Google is offering a £4.99 Play Store movie rental credit to UK residents who set up a new Chromecast. Since some of the movies in the UK Play Store are less than the promotion’s offering, it’s quite possible that you’ll have something leftover towards your next rental.
If you recently purchased Google’s entertainment dongle and you’re planning your next movie night, head on over to the Chromecast set up page to take advantage of this offer.

The HTC One is hailed for its gorgeous all aluminum design which is carved out from a solid block. A process that apparently takes more than 3 hours. The display is big and beautiful at 4.7 inches and a resolution of 1080p. Further specs include a 1.7GHz processor, 2GB of RAM and storage options of 32GB or 64GB. We weren’t shy in our recommendation of the HTC One:
should you buy it?
Yes. This handset definitely stands out among all the Android devices on the market. The One is beautifully crafted, and it offers a stunning screen with snappy horsepower, although its camera and battery life might not be the best in the world. It’s a perfect device for iOS lovers looking to test the Android waters.
We don’t normally see Google Chromebooks on sale but today at Staples, HP’s version is a whopping $75 off putting it near the price of the much smaller ARM Samsung 550s.
Not only is the HP Pavilion 14-c01us Chromebook more expensive, it’s also heavier than Samsung’s offering at 4lbs compared to 2.5lbs. Battery life is unfortunately the same story with an approximate 4.25 hours quoted compared to the 6.5 hours Samsung’s Chromebook offers. If you can get past that, the new HP device packs in a 14-inch diagonal HD BrightView LED-backlit (1,366-by-768-pixel), 1.1GHz Intel Celeron 847 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB SATA SSD, HDMI, USB 2.0, as well as an Ethernet port.
Staples is offering the HP Pavilion Intel Celeron 847 14″ Chromebook for $330. Enter the coupon code: 45582 and get an additional $75 off at checkout making the total only $255 before tax with free shipping. (Expiring Soon)
Google is constructing a data center in Council Bluffs, Iowa, which would bring the Mountain View, Calif.-based Company’s total investments in the town to nearly $1 billion.
According to the Associated Press, the search engine said the $300 million data center would add 50 new jobs to the area ranging from computer repair to logistics. Construction on the 1,000-acre project is slated to begin immediately; although, details regarding an end-date are not confirmed.
“Google’s secure data centers are some of the most energy efficient in the world,” explained Google on its Date Centers website. “Each year we save millions of dollars on energy costs, and we use renewable energy whenever we can.”
