Lollipop loaded with hidden Flappy Bird Easter egg (video)

If you’re participating in the ongoing developer preview of Android Lollipop, there’s a nice little Easter egg embedded in its latest build. If you go to Settings > About phone and repeatedly tap the Android version, a nice lollipop icon will show up on your screen. Give the image a long-press and you’ll launch a hidden Flappy Bird clone.

You knew it was going to happen.

Just when you thought that Flappy Bird clones had run their course, Flopsy Droid has become the first unofficial Flappy Bird port for Android Wear devices. The app brings the bird-and-pipe experience to the LG G Watch, Moto 360 and other Android Wear devices, with the same one-tap controls as the smartphone version. Flappy Bird creator teases new game in screenshot

Just a day after Flappy Bird creator Dong Nguyen told CNBC his hit mobile game would return in August, today the developer is teasing a new game currently in development.

Despite reportedly confirming Flappy Bird would make a return, Nguyen’s tweet about his new game reads, “I am making a new game. So people can forget about Flappy Bird for a while.” 

There aren’t any other details on the game or a timeframe for release, but Nguyen did provide the screenshot above which appears to show similar gameplay to Flappy Bird.

In an extensive interview with Rolling Stone, Flappy Bird creator Dong Nguyen shared that it’s possible he will make the incredibly challenging iOS and Android game available for users again… but with a disclaimer.

As for the future of his flapper, he’s still turning down offers to purchase the game. Nguyen refuses to compromise his independence. But will Flappy Bird ever fly again? “I’m considering it,” Nguyen says. He’s not working on a new version, but if he ever releases one it will come with a “warning,” he says: “Please take a break.” expand full story
