LG announced around CES 2018 that it wouldn’t be sticking to a one-year release cycle anymore, rather releasing new devices “when needed.” We’ve been seeing the results of this with a lot more variants of the company’s smartphones, and now that extends to the LG G6 and LG Q6.
The LG G6 was quickly overshadowed by the Galaxy S8 when it hit the market earlier this year, but it’s still a really solid offering. Today, the LG G6 is getting a breath of fresh air thanks to a deal with Amazon.
Earlier this month, LG announced the Q6 – a mid-range smartphone that’s most notable for its 18:9 bezel-less display, not unlike the G6. No exact release date was confirmed by LG when the phone was first announced, but thanks to a press release from the company, that’s no longer the case.
As teased yesterday, LG has officially announced the Q6, a line that brings the G6’s marquee “FullVision” display into the mid-range. However, that designation brings notable downsides, including a plastic rear, no fingerprint sensor, and a Snapdragon 435 processor.
After announcing a ‘Plus’ model of the G6 last month, LG appears to be going down to the mid-range with the Q6. With an official announcement teased for tomorrow, the device’s appearance and some specifications have already leaked.
