Update: SwiftKey has also made all themes free in this latest update for users on Android and iOS.
SwiftKey is a popular choice for many Android users when it comes to a third-party keyboard, and for good reason. The excellent gesture typing and predictions on SwiftKey make it a fantastic option, and now, it’s getting even better with a big new update.
In a new update rolling out now via Google Play, SwiftKey has introduced three new features: Clipboard, Incognito Mode, and Shortcuts. Clipboard gives users the option to save snippets of text into a constantly available clipboard to be retrieved whenever they would like. Rather than Android’s own clipboard, which stores only one thing at a time, SwiftKey’s Clipboard allows users to save several bits of text at a time.
Shortcuts act as, well, shortcuts to what you have saved on Clipboard. Any text snippet in the Clipboard can be programmed with a shortcut which can be typed to pull up the longer text snippet. This can definitely come in handy with things you may type often, such as your address.
Then there’s Incognito Mode, which is fairly self-explanatory. SwiftKey learns when you type, but sometimes you might not want the keyboard to learn from what you’re typing. To activate Incognito Mode, pull in the hamburger menu on the keyboard and activate the feature. To turn it back off, head into SwiftKey Hub and toggle it back off.
These features are available now in the latest public release of SwiftKey for Android over on Google Play.
All themes on Android and iOS are now free
With the holiday season upon us, we wanted to spread a little SwiftKey cheer of our own – so today, we’re excited to tell you that all themes on SwiftKey Keyboard for Android and iOS are now completely free!
If you’re on Android, simply tap or slide the hamburger icon on the prediction to enter the SwiftKey Hub. From there, open the ‘Themes’ panel and select ‘SwiftKey Store’. For full instructions on how to get there, check out our How-To article.
There, you’ll find over 100 themes to customize your SwiftKey Keyboard’s color and design – as well as brand new ‘Vivid’ themes which are, of course, also free. These new Vivid themes follow the launch of a redesigned SwiftKey Hubdce- complete with new user-requested feature, like text expansion shortcuts.
If you’re on iOS, simply open the container app from your homescreen and click the red ‘Design’ icon in the top right to pick from these newly free themes.
