Currents, previously Google+, shutting down next year in favor of Spaces in Gmail/Chat

Google+ shut down in April of 2020 as a social network for consumers, but the product was kept around for businesses that wanted an internal tool to communicate with employees in a post/stream-like manner. Citing low usage, Google is shutting down Currents and replacing it with Spaces in the new integrated Gmail/Chat.

Google launches Android Newsstand, pulls together all of your subscriptions

Do you subscribe to magazines, newspapers, blogs and news sites? Of course you do and Google is putting all of the full length articles, complete with images, audio and video right inside the app. Articles will be available for offline reading or can be bookmarked to read later.

Google Currents iOS app updated with Audio Playlist support, UI polish

Google has updated its Currents app for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch with the ability to manage Audio Playlists in the Editions panel. Additionally, the new update brings UI polish in terms of pinch-to-zooming for photos, vertical pagination, and more. The update is free on the iTunes App Store.
