Vulnerability in Snapdragon chips, ‘QualPwn,’ fixed with August security patch

When it comes to Android’s monthly security updates, some months can be more important than others. With the August 2019 Android security patch, Google and Qualcomm have fixed a set of “critical” vulnerabilities in their Snapdragon chips, dubbed “QualPwn,” that could allow hackers access to your phone’s underlying Linux kernel over the air.

Samsung Galaxy S9 battery life is better on Snapdragon processors as Exynos tests show poor results

It’s pretty well-known at this point that Samsung’s phones vary on the internals based on where you live. In the States, you get the latest from Qualcomm, and pretty much everywhere else that’s traded out for Samsung’s own Exynos chipset. For the most part, differences between the two are minimal, but on the Galaxy S9, it seems like there’s a pretty big difference.

LG reportedly working with Qualcomm on the Snapdragon 845 for the LG G7

LG had a tough choice to make with the LG G6. With the Snapdragon 835 tied up in the Galaxy S8, the company needed to either wait or release with last year’s hardware. I think it made the right choice going with the Snapdragon 821, but it puts a glaring difference between the G6 and S8 on paper. Now, LG seems to be working to make sure this doesn’t happen next year as the company is apparently collaborating with Qualcomm on the Snapdragon 845.

Qualcomm & Samsung reportedly working on Snapdragon 845, to debut in Galaxy S9

Samsung’s Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ may have just debuted, but that isn’t stopping Samsung from already working on the Galaxy S9. Well, at least one component for it. According to a recent report, Samsung and Qualcomm have started work on next year’s Snapdragon 845 chipset, which will make its debut in the Galaxy S9.
