Google announced today that it is adding Google+ Circles to Google Voice.
Software Engineer Tom Ford took to the official Google Voice blog to tell users how Circles give callers more control with organizing and managing in Google Voice:
Circles give you more control over how you manage your callers; for example, calls from your “Creepers” circle can be sent straight to Voicemail, only your “College Buddies” circle will hear you rap your voicemail greeting, or you can set your “Family” circle to only ring your mobile phone.
As Ford mentioned, go to the Groups & Circles tab in Google Voice settings to customize Circles.
More information is available below.
Google Voice is a telecommunications service first launched by Google in 2009, but it became open to the public in 2010. The service is accessible through the login website or as a free app available on the Android Market and Apple App store. It offers a variety of features, aside from integrated Google+ Circles, and those include voicemail transcription, personalized greetings, international calling, SMS to email, share voicemails, block callers, screen callers, conference calls and number porting.
Google+ Circles let users share “different things with different people” on the social network. Circles make it easy to put friends from High school in one circle, parents in another, and a neighbor in a circle by himself. Implementing Circles from the ever-growing Google+ to the Google Voice app is just another bridge the search engine exacted to unify many policies, products and services under one umbrella.
