LG says flagship G3 coming within two months (Update: shot of the device leaked?)

LG has confirmed that the G3 will be made available in the second fiscal quarter of this year. That means that the device will be available within the next two months — much sooner than some were expecting, as the LG G2 launched in September of last year. The launch window was confirmed by LG in its earnings press release. The company expects “higher revenues” in the second quarter due to this flagship launch:

“Revenues of KRW 3.41 trillion (USD 3.19 billion) increased 6 percent year-on-year and operating profit margins rose quarter-on-quarter due to the launch of G Pro 2 in the domestic market and more efficient marketing spending. Higher revenues are expected in the second quarter with the release of the flagship LG G3 smartphone and wider roll-out of the mass-tier L Series III.”

The past few weeks have shed a surprising amount of light on the device’s specs and design, as well as the software. The display will be quad-HD, or 2560×1440 pixels. The camera may change depending on your market, but it seems like there will at least be one model with a 16 megapixel sensor. Most importantly, LG has refined the look and feel of its software to the point that it doesn’t look like a bad TouchWiz ripoff. With the lackluster upgrade Samsung brought with the Galaxy S5, it will be interesting to see if LG can gain a major foothold in the market with the G3.
