According to a report this morning out of the well-sourced SamMobile, the South Korea-based Android OEM is planing to push Android 6.0 Marshmallow to a whole slew of its most popular handsets. Among those making the initial list are most variants of the Samsung Galaxy S5, Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy S6 Edge+, Galaxy Note 4, and Galaxy Note 5. For good measure, Samsung threw in the Verizon variant of the Galaxy Note Edge and the Galaxy S5 Neo. Why not?.. expand full story

Android Lollipop now rolling out to T-Mobile’s Galaxy Note Edge
Android Lollipop is continuing its parade across the various flagship devices of yesteryear, and today it looks like T-Mobile is rolling out the update to its Samsung Galaxy Note Edge (via Android Police). As per the company’s support website:
Beginning May 4, the Samsung Samsung Galaxy Note Edge will receive a software update to Android version 5.0.2/baseband version N915TUVU1COD7. This update provides the Android 5.0 ‘Lollipop’ and enables Wi-Fi passport. This update is available to download over W-Fi or via Samsung Kies.
Rather than the more recent Android 5.1 and 5.1.1 builds that have been rolling out to Nexus devices lately, this update is based on Android 5.0.2. On top of bringing Android Lollipop (and all the goodies that it offers), T-Mobile also says that this update enables Wi-Fi passport.
The update is beginning its rollout today, but if you’re impatient you can use Samsung’s Kies software to get it right now. Otherwise, make sure your phone has at least 1100 MB of free space, a WiFi connection, and at least 50% battery life.

Android Lollipop now landing for Galaxy Note 3, Note Edge on Sprint
The Android Lollipop updates just keep rolling in, and today’s no exception. Sprint has just published support pages documenting the release of Android Lollipop for the carrier’s Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Note Edge smartphones…
Many users are already reporting that the update has hit their device, so you should go check System Update > Update in Settings to see if it’s available for you yet. “Software updates may be released in stages and can take several days for delivery,” Sprint says, though, so don’t get nervous if you don’t see it yet.
Google just yesterday updated its distribution numbers for Android Lollipop, revealing that the mobile OS just recently managed to pass 5% in adoption. Hopefully as more and more Lollipop updates are released (like these), that number will slowly start to make its way up.

We’ve seen several new Android phones debut at CES 2015 from Asus, LG, Lenovo, and Verizon announced today availability for one of the more interesting smartphones announced in 2014 with its launch of the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge. First announced by Samsung in September of last year, the Galaxy Note Edge features a 5.6-inch quad HD super AMOLED display with a dramatic curve alongside the right of the phone for displaying notifications, controls, app icons, and more. Check out our hands-on video for the Galaxy Note Edge and read on for Verizon availability details. expand full story

Reminder: Samsung’s Galaxy Note Edge is available in the US from today, from $399.99
If you’ve been waiting to get your hands on Samsung’s quirky variant on the Note 4, the Note Edge is available today from AT&T, Sprint, Verizon, and U.S. Cellular – as well as through the Samsung experience stores within Best Buy stores. Best Buy pricing starts at $399.99 on a new 2-year contract with AT&T, up to $1,599 for an unlocked model without contract.
While we found the device interesting during our hands-on test, the consensus view seems to be that the novelty of the wrap-around screen probably doesn’t justify the extra $100 over the standard Note 4, which our own Dom Esposito described as “the best phablet on the block.”
The Note Edge is also due to roll out in at least 22 other countries, though probably not until sometime next month.

Despite the fact that Samsung called the Galaxy Note Edge a “limited edition concept device” at launch, we now have word (via SamMobile) that the phone will actually be making it to quite a few more countries. It’s still to be seen how widely the phone will be available, but it’s likely that only a few selected stores within these countries will actually carry it. The device will be priced around €899 in Europe, and for an idea as to when it will launch, it will supposedly be available in Denmark on December 12th.
