It looks like the first results of Huawei and Leica’s long-term partnership will be introduced in the P9 flagship. While the smartphone has been heavily leaked in the past, a new image from the notorious Evleaks reveals Leica markings in the camera visor…
The rather large ‘Leica’ word mark has been absent in previous leaked images of the device, including in a recently photographed mock-up and on a unit being used by a Huawei exec. However, it’s likely that the devices seen in both set of images were pre-production units.
The ‘Summarit H 1:2.2/27 ASPH’ alludes to Leica’s line of Summarit lenses. The Summarit lines of lenses have been available for awhile and offer Leica’s optics at lower price prices. Huawei has been teasing the device with the “#OO” hashtag in reference to the dual-camera setup. Furthermore, the device’s “change the way you see the world” slogan heavily alludes to the camera prowess Huawei hopes to offer.
Huawei is recycling the look of the Nexus 6P with a similar camera visor, rear fingerprint sensor, and horizontal antenna lines. Spec-wise, the device is rumored to have a Kirin 950 processor, 32GB of storage, and 3GB of RAM. It will sport a 1080p 5.2-inch display and a large 3,900 mAh battery charged via USB Type-C. It will also likely run Huawei’s EMUI skin on top of Android 6.0.1.
The device is expected to arrive this coming Wednesday during an event in London. 9to5Google will be reporting live from the event, so stay tuned for more coverage.
