According to an interview done by LG’s director of communications Ken Hong with a Dutch news outlet (via Phone Arena), the company currently has no plans on making the next Nexus device. LG, of course, made both the Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 devices, but Hong says that the company is not making the next Nexus device, “at least not yet.”
Hong stated that normally at this point, his company would have heard something about making a Nexus device. Hong joked that maybe he “got ignored” or the company simply won’t be making it.
The LG executive went on to say that he is perfectly fine with his company not producing the Nexus 6, or whatever it may be called. Hong said that when a company makes a Nexus device, it become very dependent on Google, which is not always a good thing.
Finally, Hong spoke regarding the supply issues that surrounded both the Nexus 4 and Nexus 5. He said that Google determines how many units of a Nexus device should be made, so when there are Nexus supply issues, its Google’s fault, not the manufacturer.

“I know at least not yet. Normally, we were informed,” Ken Hong said in an interview. “That can mean two things. Either I got ignored, or we simply won’t be making [the Nexus 6]. If you can develop a Google phone that gives credibility. But money you earn is not easy, and you become too dependent on Google. Google determines how many phones are to be made, and we do that. If it is stated that LG produces too few Nexus phones, the media then is simply incorrect. We get asked, we deliver.”
