Sony’s LinkBuds and LinkBuds S are set to get a brand-new software update in the coming weeks, bringing along multipoint pairing functionality to the wireless earbuds as well as a new “Earth Blue” color to the LinkBuds S.

Sony’s unique LinkBuds doubled down on the idea of open sound in earbuds, but it seems their sibling may go for a more balanced approach. A leak claims to show off the “Sony LinkBuds S,” which have a vent similar to Google’s Pixel Buds.

Truly wireless earbuds have a variety of use cases, but their small and portable form factor have, for me, always been a great fit for ambient audio. That’s a purpose that most brands have basically ignored, short of Google’s Pixel Buds. The new Sony LinkBuds go all-in on mixing your music with the surrounding world, and I’ve been waiting years for these to exist.
