After Chinese company Huawei introduced the phone for the US in January of this year, I gave the Honor 5X a full review. But maybe you can’t even call it that. More than a review, it was mostly just some thoughts on the phone that I had pent up after an exhausting week at CES. Basically, the gist was this (although I recommend you read the whole thing): You get a lot for your money ($200) on the hardware side of things with the Honor 5X, but the software leaves a lot (and, really, I mean a lot) to be desired. After that, the phone sat in my drawer and I hadn’t touched it since.

We’ve covered both the Wileyfox Swift and Wileyfox Storm in detail (read & watch our reviews here and here, respectively), and now the two phones—which by default run Cyanogen OS 12.1 based on Android Lollipop—are getting CyanogenMod 13 nightlies (via Android Police). We’ve said that the British-made and well-specced handsets are a great deal for the price if you live in the UK, even though they may not have anywhere near the hype or brand recognition of OnePlus…

In addition, it seems a few ancient handsets also just starting receiving their first CyanogenMod 13 nightlies. The Motorola RAZR, Motorola Droid RAZR,  Motorola Droid Bionic, and Motorola Droid 4 are all joining ranks among dozens of other handsets. Marshmallow builds for these phones and others have been popping up here and there, but if you’ve been waiting on the tried and true (although maybe not in this case, as these are nightlies after all) CyanogenMod, you’re in luck.

When tablets became the next big thing in 2010, every tech company jumped into the fray hoping to monopolize on the trend. There are definitely lessons to be learned from the dirt cheap Android tablets, Fusion Garage’s JooJoo, and the like—notably, how companies quickly stopped supporting them. However, some tablets, like the Nook Tablet, get reprieve thanks to CyanogenMod.

CyanogenMod 13 nightlies — which are based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow — have been rolling out for a couple of months now, and now you can grab the custom Android ROM for the Nexus 4. While this may not be a vanilla build of Android Marshmallow, it is yet another method of bringing the latest that Android has to offer to a phone that’s more than three years old…

The CyanogenMod team announced in a blog post this morning that it has started pushing its Android Marshmallow-based CM13 nightlies to a handful of older Android phones. It does note, however, that if you’re currently using YOG4P orYOG7D builds of CM12.1 and are happy with its stability, you may want to give the CM13 nightly a miss. A nightly — for those who are unaware — is essentially a beta custom ROM build that CyanogenMod pushes out to its users.

CyanogenMod is arguably the most popular custom build of Android, and now Cyanogen has begun work on CyanogenMod 13.
