Google uses machine learning in a lot of unique ways, and the company is constantly branching that technology out into new apps and services. This week, Google has released another new service that runs on top of machine learning, ‘AI Duet.’
AI Duet was built in collaboration with musician/developer Yotam Mann, who explains in the video below that the project uses neural networks and machine learning to create its own “map” for responding to musical notes.
Previously, that map would have been created by the developer, but through the use of machine learning, the computer was able to create the map over time by analyzing other melodies. The computer will respond to some input with proper melodies, and if you’re like me and don’t have a musical gift, will attempt to respond to the mashing of various keys with something that sounds decent.
AI Duet is available now alongside Google’s various other AI Experiments at g.co/aiexperiments, and you can check out Duet specifically here.
