Waze unveils new Transport SDK, partnering with popular apps like Lyft to offer smart integration
Waze is already the go-to app for real-time traffic updates, and today they’ve upped their game. Waze has officially announced its Transport SDK, which will give partners the ability to implement some of Waze’s features into their own applications. There will be no need to switch out of an app just to see a road block two miles ahead in the not-so-distant future.
Sony acquires Israeli chip maker Altair Semiconductor for its LTE chip tech
Sony will be acquiring an Israeli chip maker called Altair Semiconductor for $212 million, the handset maker announced in an official press release this week. Altair Semiconductor is known for its advancements with LTE (Long Term Evolution) modems. They’ve been working on making LTE chips that are faster, with lower power consumption, all while at a lower cost. This possibly means that Sony can deploy LTE technology to markets that may not have it as of yet. The acquisition is slated to be all wrapped up early by February 2016, just a few weeks away.
More alleged Samsung Galaxy S7 camera module and display images leak
The Samsung Galaxy S7’s release is approaching quickly and with that comes the leaks of several aspects of the device. GsmArena today has received images of both the front panel and camera module of the upcoming flagship. These images were snagged from the product line, most likely the production ready version, but a developer model based upon markings.
LG G5 purportedly shown in dummy shell as cases surface for the unreleased device
The LG G4 was one of the best phones of 2015, filled with drool-worthy specs, excluding a metal build. With the 2016 rendition of the LG G5, rumors are pointing to a change in that. A new report from DroidLife claims that a source sent images of an LG prototype, most likely being that of the LG G5. The proposed G5 is in a protective casing in the images below, concealing any branding, however.
