At I/O 2024, Gemini Advanced started using 1.5 Pro and Google is now upgrading the free version of Gemini with 1.5 Flash. 

Like other major Google apps, Gemini is now on social media, specifically X. The account sent out its first tweet this morning.

Google does not want to make its own XR headsets or glasses. Rather, it’s taking an Android OEM model, with Google now looking to partner with EssilorLuxottica, which is behind Ray-Bans, for Gemini smart glasses.

After revealing the Pixel 9 Pro and 9 Pro Fold design, Google’s teasing continues today with features and “22 reasons you should say goodbye to your phone.”

At I/O 2024, Google said Gemini Live would offer ten natural-sounding voices instead of just the one we’re currently limited to, and testing appears to be underway. 

Google’s Gemini has been available on iPhone for months now, but it’s not super easy to access since it’s hidden under a few clicks in the main Google app. Now, though, there’s a super easy way to access Gemini from your iPhone’s homescreen or using the Action Button.

With the Paris 2024 Olympics kicking off next week, Google today announced a partnership with Team USA and NBCUniversal to “spotlight helpful Google features” across broadcast, online, and social platforms.

After initially being limited to Google Assistant-level commands, activating Gemini on the Android lockscreen now lets you ask “general questions.”

Gemini today offers six first-party extensions and it’s now getting a seventh from Data Commons, which is a Google initiative that aims to organize “the world’s publicly available data and makes it more accessible and useful.”

With less than a month until Made by Google 2024, the latest leak suggests that the Pixel 9 Pro will come with 1-year of Gemini Advanced.

Compared to Galaxy Unpacked in January, there were only a handful of Google announcements today with the Galaxy Z Fold 6 unveil, while the “upcoming XR platform” got another mention.

“Live” will let you have a two-way conversation with Gemini when it arrives this summer. Shown as a fullscreen experience at I/O 2024, Gemini Live might also work in the background, including on your lockscreen.

In addition to the Gemini side panel on the web, Gmail for Android and iOS is now rolling out a Summarize capability to paid customers.

In the past year or so, Google has previewed a number of Gemini-branded and other AI features across its consumer-facing apps. Here’s everything that’s been announced and when they might be available. 

Smart glasses are still an idea of the future that hasn’t quite been perfected, but the arrival of generative AI has significantly upgraded what these devices are capable of. Meta’s Ray-Ban smart glasses have been viewed by many as one of the best options available today, and now they’re getting some competition in the Solos AirGo Vision, which also happen to integrate Google Gemini support.

Following education and Workspace news this week, Google has a number of Gemini announcements for developers, including a 2 million token context window for 1.5 Pro.

As announced at I/O 2024 last month, the Gemini side panel is now rolling out to paid Gmail, Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, and Slides customers, including Google One AI Premium.

At the ISTE 2024 education conference, Google announced the latest Chrome — like Read Aloud in Reading Mode — and Gemini features for schools.

Following the European expansion at the start of June, Google is bringing the Gemini app and the latest Gemini Advanced features to India. There’s also some new Gemini in Google Messages developments. 

Following the last country/language expansion at the end of April, Google’s Gemini app for Android and iOS is now coming to the UK and Europe.
