Android Wear 2.0 is getting started with its rollout to the rest of the Android Wear ecosystem following its debut on new devices like the LG Watch Sport and LG Watch Style. After confirming the rollout would start soon, Fossil is now giving us some updated details on when the rollout will begin.

The Fossil Q Marshal and Q Wander, which were originally unveiled earlier this year, now have a pre-order date. The company announced today that the two Android Wear-powered smartwatches will be available for pre-order this Friday, August 12th. The devices will be available in stores on August 29th.
Last year, Fossil announced their first Android Wear device and today, they are following up the Q Founder with the Q Wander and Q Marshal. Fossil is known for their high-end premium watches and these wearables continue on the same path and design.
Fossil officially released its very first Android Wear watch a couple of weeks ago. The $295 smartwatch is powered by an Intel Atom processor and has a round display complete with ‘flat tire’, and has now been made available to order from Google’s devices store. What’s more, because it’s on Google’s tech-focussed store, we get a much better idea about the watch’s internal specifications. Misfit, makers of popular smartphone-connected wearable fitness accessories, today announced the company is being acquired by watchmaker Fossil Group for $260 million, reports The Wall Street Journal.
Fossil plans to take the technology and integrate it into its traditional watch designs, according to the report:

Fossil, one of the world’s best-known fashion brands has teased an upcoming set of wearables which should be available by the time this year’s holiday shopping season swings by. Fossil Q is a range of connected devices made up of three separate products. There will be a connected bracelet (think Jawbone UP), a connected non-display watch (think Withings Activité) and a connected display watch (traditional touchscreen smartwatch). The latter of these three is the one we’re really interested in here, since it will run Android Wear when it hits the market later this year.
Watchmaker Fossil is about to launch a new Android Wear-powered smartwatch in collaboration with Intel and today we get our first look at the device during Intel’s IDF developer conference in San Francisco (via Engadget).
The Android Wear smartwatch, which is scheduled to arrive later this year, comes alongside two other wearables from the companies including other wrist worn devices — a bracelet and a more traditional-looking, connected watch that aren’t powered by Android Wear.
It’s not exactly much to look at, as it appears to have a design a lot like the rest of the round Android Wear devices on the market. But apart from looking a lot like a Moto 360, we do get a sneak peek at some variations planned for the device including a selection of metal and leather bands.
No word on pricing or exact availability, but you can expect to hear more in time for the holidays later this year.

Following confirmation from Google’s Sundar Pichai earlier this month that a Android SDK for wearables was on the way, Google has now officially announced Android’s entrance into wearables with project “Android Wear.” The Android Wear SDK allows developers to integrate a number of features into Android powered wearables and relies heavily on Google Now functionality, as we were first to report late last year.
Google also confirmed that it’s working with a handful of partners to bring Android Wear powered wearables to market by later this year:
Asus, HTC, LG, Motorola and Samsung; chip makers Broadcom, Imagination, Intel, Mediatek and Qualcomm; and fashion brands like the Fossil Group to bring you watches powered by Android Wear later this year.’
What can developers do with Android Wear? Google says the devices will be capable of displaying, for example, the latest posts and updates from social and messaging apps, answers via “OK Google” voice commands and Google Now-like functionality, as well as a number of fitness and health related data points. Google is also allowing Android Wear devices to talk with other devices like your phone or Chrome device through voice commands:
