HTC allegedly set to follow its 10 flagship with the launch of new mid-market Desire 10

HTC is no stranger to families of devices that range from the mid to the high end of the smartphone spectrum, and chances are that this trend won’t stop anytime soon. In particular, following the recent arrival of its 10 flagship, the company seems to be close to launching another device of its Desire lineup, aptly named “Desire 10″…

New HTC Desire 5xx handset by the name of ‘A16’ leaks via Evan Blass

Don’t get too excited. While HTC does have an “A” line of HTC One smartphones, the above leaked handset renders (via Evan Blass) are actually a refresh of the company’s mid-range Desire line. That’s according to famed leaker LlabTooFeR who told us just a couple of weeks ago that there are two new Desire handsets scheduled to be released before HTC comes out with the “Perfume” HTC One M10 sometime after Mobile World Congress. According to Evan, the above images are of the Desire phone codenamed A16, making it a Desire 5xx phone…

HTC Desire 626 hits Verizon for $192 unlocked or $8/month

Verizon Wireless has begun selling HTC’s new Desire 626 mid-range Android smartphone. HTC back in May introduced a litany of new mid-rangers to the US market across every major carrier, including the Desire 526 which hit Verizon earlier this month.

The Desire 626 is a bit of a step up from the 526, sporting a larger 5-inch, 720p display, 8MP rear-facing and 5MP front-facing cameras, 1.5GB RAM, and a quad-core Snapdragon 210 processor. It also has a 2,000mAh battery and the storage can be increased through the microSD card tray.

Those are low-end specifications when put up against today’s flagships like the Moto X Style or OnePlus Two, but they come with a price to match: $192 fully unlocked or $8 per month on a 24-month contract. And for what it’s worth, the Desire 626 is a solid-built phone with a design that is quite attractive. It’s unlikely to pull HTC out of the rut it’s in right now, though. You should check out our full video review below if you’d like to learn more about the phone.

Mid-range HTC Desire 526 available on Verizon tomorrow, Desire 626 in coming weeks

We’ve already learned about beleaguered HTC’s plan to introduce several new mid-range Desire smartphones to North America across every major carrier, and since the announcement a month ago they’ve slowly teased out exactly which variants each participating carrier will get. Now we know Verizon Wireless will begin selling the Desire 526 tomorrow and the 626 sometime soon.

The HTC Desire 526 (top right in the above picture) is exclusive to Verizon and features a 4.7-inch qHD display (so, approximately 540p resolution), 8MP rear-facing and 2MP front-facing cameras, a Snapdragon 210 processor, and 1.5GB of RAM. It notably has quite a deep-curved bezel. We don’t know much else about the phone except that it will be available tomorrow in-stores and online for a whopping full retail price of $120. It’s available as both a prepaid and postpaid phone.

The Desire 626 is a bit of a step up from the 526, sporting a larger 5-inch, 720p display, 8MP rear-facing and 5MP front-facing cameras, and a quad-core Snapdragon processor. It also has a 2,000mAh battery and the storage can be increased through the microSD card tray. No information on RAM size, though, or availability and pricing for that matter save for an “in the coming weeks” notice. Like the 526, it will be available to both prepaid and postpaid customers.

Those interested in the Desire 626 should check out our unboxing and hands-on with the device. We don’t have a similar video for the 526, but we can’t imagine the 626 would be that much more expensive, and based on spec sheets alone we’d highly recommend choosing it over the 526.

HTC Desire 626s, budget Samsung Galaxies heading to T-Mobile and MetroPCS

T-Mobile and its main prepaid brand, MetroPCS, had some exciting news to share with us this morning. Of most importance to us Android fans is the arrival of yet more promising options for those on a tight budget. From July 22nd, T-Mobile will start selling the HTC Desire 626s, Samsung Galaxy Core Prime and Galaxy Core Prime. MetroPCS will also be offering the 626s and Grand Prime, but won’t launch the HTC until August 3rd, while the Core Prime was made available on July 13 (Monday just gone)…

HTC says to “always Desire more,” teases new Desire smartphone launch for CES

As we reported yesterday, there are several rumors floating around that HTC intends to announce a new device of some kind at this year’s CES in Las Vegas, an event that’s typically fairly quiet for the Taiwanese corporation. But while many believed that the upcoming device might be the company’s next flagship, codenamed “Hima,” a new teaser image posted to the company’s official Weibo account would suggest otherwise. The image makes direct reference to the company’s “Desire” line of affordable phones.

Smartphone manufacturer HTC unveiled its latest mobile market contribution, the HTC Desire C, along with an official promotion video this morning.

The reel, dubbed “First Look,” only gave a brief glimpse of the device’s HTC Sense 4.0 interface, while this morning’s presser and website addressed a few of the informational gaps. The handset highlights Beats Audio technology, Sense integrated with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, and a “powerful battery.” It also boasts a 3.5-inch HVGA touchscreen, 5-megapixel camera, and 25GB of Dropbox for two years, and will sell alongside a second, NFC-capable variant.

The HTC Desire C will debut in red, white, and black through T-Mobile, Virgin Media, Three, Vodafone, Orange, O2, Phones4U, The Carphone Warehouse, and Tesco Mobile in the United Kingdom.

Meanwhile, Engadget got ahold of T-Mobile UK to confirm pricing details: Pay-monthly users can have the handset free as long as they pay £15.50 a month for two years, and Pay-As-You-Go users can get the Android smartphone for £169.99. Both options become available in early June.

The full press release is after the break.
