Yahoo Android app adds local news, comments, & new side-swipe navigation

Yahoo announced an update to its Yahoo Android app today that adds local news, commenting, and UI tweaks to the company’s app for accessing news and other Yahoo services.

Want to know more about what’s going on around you? Today we’re bringing local news to your fingertips with the Yahoo App. As you move around the country, you’ll be able to see what’s going on in your area.

In addition to local news stories for users in the US, readers now have the ability to comment on articles:

“Now, you can engage with other Yahoo App readers and react directly to the content that interests you. Participate in the conversation and share your opinion with others, vote on people’s comments to let them know how you feel, or just read them to get a sense for what other users are saying about a topic. Comments let you really explore all aspects of a category.”

Today’s update also adds a new side-swipe navigation for swiping left and right through categories, magazines and more.

– Local News
– Yahoo article Comments
– New side-swipe navigation

The updated Yahoo app, version 4.2.5, is available on Google Play now.
